Stay under budget. Eat well.
Mise plans your family's dinners in a chat, prices every ingredient at your own Pick 'n Save or Metro Market, turns the plan into a shopping list, keeps a live tally while you shop, and checks the receipt when you're done.
A hackathon project built for one Milwaukee family's kitchen. Judges: the demo login is in the submission's testing instructions.

Plan with the crew

Ask for dinners the way you'd text a friend. The crew plans with your saved recipes and pantry, sizes every dinner for your household, and prices each ingredient at your store before you commit.
- Real Kroger prices for whole packages, not per-ounce guesses.
- Catches this week's Kroger sales and shows what you save.
- Ask "what's on sale in my recipes?" or have the crew find new recipes on the web.
- Out of soy sauce? Tap its pantry chip and it gets priced.
- Use the plan, or add it to what's already on the week.
See the week
Dinners land on a week board. Move Tuesday to Friday or push one to next week, and the shopping list rebuilds itself.
- One week or two, each with its own budget and list.
- An Ideas column for dinners that don't have a day yet.
- On a phone, swipe through the week one day at a time.

Shop with the tally

Every row shows the shelf price. Type what you actually paid and the row turns green or orange, and says so in words, while the tally at the top keeps score.
- Register matches the shelf? One tap on Matches.
- Scan from a row: a deli sticker pays it, a different brand swaps it.
- Compare your list at two stores, side by side.
- Send the list to your own Pick 'n Save cart, or to Instacart.
Cook what you love
Sync your YouTube recipe playlist. The first time you open a recipe, Mise reads the written version the channel links, or the video itself, then tags it so you can search by mood.
- Ingredients scale to your household, in US or metric.
- Tags like quick, spicy, and comfort, added for you.
- Send any recipe to Instacart at the servings you need.

Look back on the month

Done shopping? Snap the receipt. The crew reads the total, tax, and fees, you check them, and the week counts what you really paid.
- Planned vs shelf vs actual, for every week.
- Weekly, monthly, and quarterly history against your budget.
- Receipt photos are read, then thrown away.
Got a food box?
Picked up a box from a food pantry? Snap a photo of it. The crew lists what's inside, then plans dinners around the box and buys only what's missing.
- One photo reads the whole box, with counts. Or tick what came in it.
- The plan card says how much the box covers and what's left to buy.
- In a test, a seven-item box became three dinners for $20.68 more.

When money's tight
Mise is built for any household, including families on SNAP. It shows what your benefits cover before the register, and where to find free food nearby when the week runs short.
- Set up for your household: who's eating, and a USDA budget to match.
- SNAP ✓ on eligible items, and a tally split into SNAP and cash.
- Nearby stores and farmers markets that take SNAP.
- Food pantries, free meals, school meals, and WIC near you, in the chat or on one page.

The money math is plain code, never the AI.
- Totals come from real store prices and simple arithmetic you can read in the repo.
- The crew picks dinners and products. It never adds up your bill.
- Green means under the estimate and orange means over, always with words beside the color.
